             Design Concept:
                                      Local History
In the 20th century, Taichung’s urban core began to take shape. Influenced by Japanese and European architecture, the dominant building styles
included Neoclassicism and Baroque, adapted to the city’s hot and humid climate through the use of arcades, covered walkways, and red brick
                                      structures.
Examples: Taichung State Hall, City Hall, Train station.
                                      Art Deco & Modern/Neoclassical Influence
In 20th-century New York, skyscrapers rose across Manhattan. Beyond the minimalist modernist glass and concrete structures and classically styled
neoclassical or Baroque buildings, a new eclectic style emerged—Art Deco, blending classical forms with modern ideals. Despite its distinct style,
Art Deco has the ability to harmoniously blend with the urban environment, creating a unique coexistence between innovation and the city’s cultural
fabric, and is therefore perfect to be incorporated into this project in Taichung.
                                      The Art of Decoration
(1 )  A new eclectic aesthetic combining Neoclassicism, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and Chinese style
                                      (2)  Taiwanese / Eastern Asian elements: jade, palace lanterns, decorative windows, and traditional text
                                      (3)  Subtropical high-rise greening in the style of WOHA: sky terraces, streetscapes, and rooftop gardens
                                      Architectural Features
(1 )  Recessed windows with overhanging eaves → energy efficient
                                      (2)  Stepped-back tower design → shapes the skyline
                                      (3)  High-ceiling arcades and wide sidewalks → enhances pedestrian comfort
